WELCOME!
Children express their worries, fears, and confusion in a variety of behaviors from aggression to withdrawal. With their still rapidly developing brains and language centers, children don’t yet have the capacity to accurately express themselves through words. That doesn’t mean that they aren’t communicating! They are constantly “talking” to us through their behaviors and actions. The challenge for the caring adults in their lives is to unravel what they are trying to say through their behavior. Sometimes parents need support.
I offer a warm, compassionate, and safe therapeutic environment for children and their families to work through difficult experiences and feelings. As a Child and Family Therapist specializing in child-centered play and art therapy, I work with children from birth to 12 years of age, experiencing social, behavioral and emotional challenges. These may include: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, adjustment to changing life circumstances, and attachment disruptions caused by foster care or adoption.
In the safety of the playroom and in the presence of a trusting and accepting therapist, and with the support of parents, children are able to process their experiences and develop more effective strategies to manage their world. Therapy can help ease fears and anxieties and heal wounds. It can support children as they master new skills, problem-solve, think creatively, and increase self-esteem.
Play therapy is an evidence-based modality that can create meaningful, lasting, positive change.
My office is located in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood. Unfortunately, it is not ADA accessible.
